Justice Ministries Fundraiser

Helping Put an End to Human Trafficking in Our City

Join us for a fun night at Free Range Brewery to support Justice Ministries! They'll be doing a short update on their year, tell stories from some survivors, as well as have a corn hole tournament and a raffle.

Bus Tour

A Bus Tour on the History & Social Challenges of Charlotte

Please join us for a tour of Charlotte's center city and it's historic neighborhoods. This is a great opportunity to learn about our city's past, present and future, particularly it's current challenges and successes.   As well, to gain a broader context and understanding of how these issues interconnect to affect our everyday lives and those we seek to love and serve, primarily our neighbors.  Be on the lookout for instructions to register for this event in late July.

Meet someone new and enjoy live music, food and socialization at the Whitewater Center. Live bands begin playing at 7 pm but come early and enjoy food, drinks and fellowship outdoors. Parking is $5 per car but there is no admission fee. Outside drink and food is not allowed. Bring blankets/lawn chairs/ hammocks.

Water Safety

Important Skills That Save Lives

 

Beginning June 11

Dowd YMCA

 

Safety Around Water is a free water safety outreach program provided to low-income youth living in local apartment communities. Certified YMCA Swim Instructors and YMCA Lifeguards educate young residents about water safety issues through instruction and awareness-building. Safety Around Water gives children, at the greatest risk, the opportunity to learn basic water safety and swimming skills.

Level Up

Empower Teens to Thrive


Beginning June 21

Various YMCAs


Trained staff and volunteers (21+ years) will create an engaging environment that has structure but allows teens to socialize with friends in activities such as basketball, swimming, fitness, character development workshops, and art. Volunteers are asked to commit to a full weekend and be on-site both Friday and Saturday.

You Read, They Succeed

You can help improve the academic success of kids reading below grade level by serving as a Y Readers volunteer. You choose the location and day that is convenient for you, and spend an hour each week reading with students.
